Motherhood

“Motherhood” was created on the high granite slopes of Tuolumne Pass in Yosemite National Park, where life clings to the harshest of landscapes. A solitary lodgepole pine rises defiantly from the rock, surrounded by younger trees that lean toward the light as if nurtured by their parent. The composition speaks to resilience, survival, and the timeless cycle of renewal in the Sierra Nevada. Shot with my Nikon Z9 full-frame mirrorless camera, the black-and-white rendering emphasizes the stark textures of granite and the sculpted forms of the clouds above. The tonal contrast draws the viewer into a dialogue between permanence and fragility—stone that has endured for millennia, and trees whose lives persist only through adaptability. In naming the work “Motherhood,” I sought to honor the strength and continuity that binds generations, both in nature and in human life, reflecting the deep, unspoken connections that sustain existence.

“Motherhood” is offered as a signed and numbered fine art print, carefully crafted using archival pigment inks on museum-grade paper to preserve its richness for generations.

Limited edition (25 prints per size) on archival print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, signed and numbered.
