High Sierra Splendor

Photographed at 8,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada range near Lake Tahoe, this image captures the quietness of a late afternoon descent into dusk at Dark Lake. As the sun descends, the alpine landscape in a final glow of light, contours and textures soften and contrast deepens. This scene is so isolated and serene; I felt like I could live there forever.

I took this image with a Nikon full-frame mirrorless digital camera.
